Hey there, @WildernessScout!

Glad to have you here.

I think applying the Enchiridion is something that is easier said than done, but can be done. The most basic example we might look at is the first few paragraphs, or perhaps even the first sentence of book 1:

Some things are within our control, other things aren't.

Epictetus indeed lists what is and isn't in our control. Basically, our judgements about things are the only thing we really control. Health, wealth, reputation, etc. are beyond our control.

Imagine that you have plans to go for a hike. But when the day comes, there's a storm. You could a) get really upset and complain. b) realize the weather is not something you can control, and move on.

Distinguishing what is, and what isn't within our control is a daily practice; it definitely gets a bit easier, but it's not always easy to respond in healthy ways -- but that is the goal.

Also, feel free to read some of the posts on here. I've tried to explain how I put Stoicism into practice myself, such as Memento Mori in Practice, Applying Stoicism: Fear of Spiders. These are, in a way, the Enchiridion in practice.
